Zoo details.

Last week we took a field trip to the zoo. My brother, Phillip and his family were visiting from S.C. so it was the perfect excuse for a day of leisure (if you can call a 7.5 mile hike "leisure") We packed a picnic lunch and had a really great time. It is always exciting to see nature through a child's eyes. It reminded me that God is a God of details. He took the time to add vivid colors to our world in the form of exotic plants, flowers, insects, and birds. Even in the depth of the ocean, where few venture, God has attended to the details. He has filled the ocean with gorgeous creatures, in every color of the rainbow, microscopic to mammoth in size, and textures of every imaginable type. The most fascinating part is how each element depends on the other. The flower needs the insect. The fish need the microscopic organism, etc. Yes, God is a God of details. So doesn't it make sense that He would be concerned with the details in my life? It is so easy to get busy, to fall into a rut, and to ignore life's details. To think ..."It won't matter if my attitude slips here or there...If a criticism pops out of mouth...If I slack up on my prayers...If just for today I don't insist on Christlike behavior from myself or my children." It's all just details! It's funny that God used a zoo trip to bring this to my attention. I guess He really does meet us on our level.
